Welcome to the Midland Mental Health & Addictions Workforce Development page. The intention of this page is to provide you with regular updates on workforce development activities at regional and national levels. Information provided will be from direct links to the five National Workforce Development Centres and Te Pou National Workforce Coordinator alliances. The page will endeavour to highlight any upcoming events, hui or conferences relevant to the Midland region and ensure you are not missing a beat for any workforce development initiatives coming our way.
Anything and everything relevant to Mental Health and Addictions workforce development will be available to view on this page so you are well informed. I welcome your input. Please feel free to send me your own local activities to showcase - and photos are appreciated!!

News Flash Hot off the Press
The Midland Region Let's get real presentation and Enablers workshops were completed on the 18th February in Tairawhiti at the Gisborne DHb and Ngati Porou Hauora. 65 NGO's service managers and team leaders attended workshops from August 2009 to February 2010. All workshops were facilitated from Haehaetu Phillips and supported from the Te Pou National Workforce team. Resource packs provided to each participant included a CD of all the Enablers, an Overview document of Let's get Real and the Seitapu framework.

Takarangi Core Competency Training Evaluation - Thursday 18th March, 2010

A one day post evaluation workshop has been scheduled for Thursday 18th March at Lakes District Health Board. The objective of the day is for the participants that attended the two day Takarangi Core Competency Training that was held in the Bay of Plenty (September 09) & Lakes (October 09) regions to provide a comprehensive update of how they are effecetively accessing the Nga Pukenga Ahurea - Takarangi Competency Framework. The workshop will be facilitated by Terry Huriwai (Matua Raki) & Moe Milne (Takarangi Competency Framework Development Group) with support provided from Haehaetu Phillips.

Midland Region Clinical Leadership in Mental Health Information Training
- Are you a clinical leader in Mental Health?
- Are you baffled about how to fully use Mental Health Inforamtion and outcome measurement?
- Are you unsuer how you can offer leadership in this area to colleagues?
Te Pou is offering a one day training for clinincal leaders in mental health in both the Northern and Midland regions. The training session will help people understand mental health information. The workshop will be facilatated by the Te Pou Information team and be held on Wednesday 28th April at the Te Pou Hamilton office.
The session will focus on the clinincal utility of mental health information with content:
- Clinician-service user interactions using mental health information
- Clinician feedback to service users on outcome measurement
- Integrating outcomes measurement and information into clininal teams
- Aggregated data: making sense of regional data (using the actual data for the Nothern and Midland regions on outcome measurement)
