The Midland regional networks are accountable to the five DHBs through the Midland Regional Network (Midland Director) to provide strategic advice and support to key strategic developments at a national and regional level.  These networks are the mandated voice of the Midland region mental health and addictions network and are responsible for consulting widely with their local networks to ensure that the advice and support provided accurately reflects the sector that they represent.

The Midland Regional Network have established and maintain several regional leadership networks.  Several of the regional networks have been established since 2001.  Over the years the forums have evolved from networking stakeholder forums to informational forums and have now evolved into managed networks. 


Midland Consumer Leadership Network - He Tipuana Nga Kakano  "Growing the Seeds". The Midland Regional Consumer Leadership Network was established in 2001 to provide strategic advice and leadership with a particular focus on consumer participation.  This network meets four times a year.


Midland Maori Leadership Network - Te Huinga o Nga Pou Hauora  The Midland Regional Maori Advisory Group.  Established early in 2001 this forum meets four times a year. 


Midland Clinical Governance Network  A forum of clinical leadership from across the Midland region mental health and addiction sector. Established in 2004 this forum has recently changed following a Clinical Governance project to ensure that it is more responsive to the current health environment.  This network meets monthly, face to face every three months and teleconferences in between.


Midland Whanau Leadership Network - Te Ao Whanau   Formed in 2002 and reviewed in 2010 this group meets four times a year to provide strategic advice and leadership with a particular focus on whanau participation.  This network meets fours times a year.


Midland Mental Health & Addictions Portfolio Managers Network  Formed in 2005 meets four times a year and teleconferences as the need arises to provide support and operationalise activity across the region.


Midland Addictions Leadership Network  Established in November 2009 to provide advice and leadership in the area of alcohol and other drugs.  This network meets four times a year.

Midland Duly Authorised Officers Network   The Midland region has been supporting the five DHBs to host this network since 2010.  The group met once per year, from 2015 this network will meet twice yearly to look at regional consistency and approaches for future delivery to support the services and their communities.


Midland MH&A Inpatient Clinical Care Network   Established in 2014 for the purpose of sharing of Mental Health and Addictions inpatient best practice, the promotion of and alignment.  Also where possible uniform pathways of care, alignment of operational process/clinical form, utilisation & benchmarking and where viable, KPIs where they specifically relate to Inpatient Units.


Midland Opioid Substitution Treatment Clinical Network   Established in 2014 for clinicians to have those challenging discussion around best and safe practice, group supervision, case studies and looking to have some regional consistency and stanardisation.


Midland Infant Perinatal Clinical Network  The Midland Regional perinatal and infant mental health clinical network was formed in 2015 to provide workforce development initiatives for staff employed in DHB and NGO who deliver perinatal acute mental health care across the Midland Region.
