The Midland Regional Network was reviewed at the beginning of 2008. The key result of the review was to ensure that the Midland Regional Network was strategically focused and aligned to the Ministry of Health imperatives.

Meet the Midland Mental Health & Addictions Team
Eseta Nonu-Reid - Midland Regional Director

Eseta Nonu-Reid has a background in mental health nursing with postgraduate studies in Psycho-gerontology and Forensic psychiatry. Eseta brings extensive experience in the mental health and addiction field providing leadership and management in DHB mental health and addiction, Pacific Peoples mental health, NGO and Iwi service development, partnership and models of care. Eseta is based in Rotorua.
Eseta is of Samoan descent and lives with her mother, husband Paul and their four children in Auckland. Eseta brings to the role a strong commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi, the prinicipals of Recovery and creative and innovative service delivery that improves health outcomes for people.

With 10 years experience in the Tourism Industry, Akatu was introduced to the Health Sector when she accepted a temporary position with the Midlands Mental Health team in October 2008. In December 2008 she joined the HPV Immunisation Team as PA/Administrator to provide administrative support and accompany the Nursing team when immunising in the schools within the Lakes region.
Akatu is of Cook Island & Maori descent and is married to John who is from Aitutaki in the Cook Islands and they share three children, they are based in her hometown Rotorua.
Akatu is looking forward to working with the Midlands team and is excited about the new challenges and experiences in this Senior Administration role.

Ruth Choudharey - Midland Regional Workforce Development Coordinator

Ruth has worked within the mental health sector for over ten years. Ruth has worked within Child and Adolescent Mental Health services - rural, gaining experience in an Adult Mental Health rehabilitation ward, Residential Coordination service (Mental Health), Youth Specialty Service (NGO) and Community Mental Health. While Ruth has primarily worked within the Waikato, she has also worked within her hometown in the Bay of Plenty.
Ruth is of Fijian Indian and Cook Island descent. Ruth’s parents settled in New Zealand in the early 70’s. They initially moved to the West Coast in the South Island, where Ruth was born, later shifting to the Bay of Plenty. Ruth resides in Hamilton, with her partner, Richard. Ruth has recently completed her MPhil – Cultural Wellbeing and the LGA 2002, supervised by Prof Marilyn Waring, Nicola Mason and Dr Kirsten Hanna.
Ruth brings with her a commitment to improving health outcomes for service users and their whanau through workforce development.

Belinda Walker - Midland PRIMHD Decision Support Coordinator

Greetings
Belinda has worked within the health and disability NGO sector for over 10 years. She has worked in a variety of roles from community support worker through to mental health coordinator and most recently in senior management. Belinda has a strong passion for measurable outcomes and outputs that will ultimately improve service delivery for tangata whaiora, and their whanau and significant others.
Belinda was born in the Wellington region and spent a significant part of her life living in Lakes and BOP. She now lives in Mamaku Village with her partner Steven.
Belinda has been working with PRIMHD since its inception and prior to that MHINC. She has also been a participant in the National KPI Project and brings this experience with her to her new role. She is looking forward to working with NGO’s to support them implementing and maintaining PRIMHD within their individual services.

Sue Lewer
Sue comes from a social work and health management background spanning almost 30 years and holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Sociology. She has worked in both the hospital clinical sector and in the NGO area. She has held senior management roles in hospital services in the Western Bay of Plenty in Community/ Public Health, Women and Child Health and Mental Health and was General Manager Operations for a large national NGO.
For the past 2 years she has been running her own business with a focus on health management and consultancy and has undertaken significant evaluation, project management, service reviews and management supervision for Lakes DHB as well as the Midland Regional Mental Health and Addictions network.

Mandy Lacy
Mandy provides specialist project management which have included: development of many governance and operational policy and procedures and associated training, pilot projects, organisational development, change management, staff training and professional development, service reviews, workforce development, values based common capabilities for an entire workforce - the 20% making the 80% difference in the human experience, leadership mentoring, service development, strategic planning and review, facilitation and training. Mandy has had experience in many sectors; rural, nursing, education, women's health, mental health and addiction, social and community services, general practice, primary health organisations, district health boards, non-government organisations, sports clubs, business, and corporate companies.
Mandy is a one of three New Zealand Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) and a Provisional Trainer and Supervisor Transactional Analyst (PTSTA) specialising in the organisational field. She delivers TA training throughout Australasia. Transactional Analysis (TA) in the Organisational field is a psychology of organisations, groups and leadership. All the activities of qualified transactional analysts - including TA training and accreditation are carried on under the auspices of a worldwide network of professional TA associations. This network is co-ordinated at national, continental and international levels through a system of affiliation. It provides a secure professional and ethical basis for the work of accredited transactional analysts.

Ruth Gerzon
Ruth's key interests are in advocacy, human rights and social inclusion, Te Tiriti and its relevance, community development, mainly in the fields of disability, mental health and health promotion. Her work involves development and facilitation of training packages on advocacy and social inclusion, translation of complex issues into clear, plain language, and providing mentoring and support for organisation and small trusts on good governance, management and policy development. Ruth gained her Masters of Philosophy in Social Policy in 2003 and her thesis topic was action research on the effectiveness of training to reduce discrimination in mental health. She has a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work a Diploma in Teaching and a Certificate in Magazine Journalism.
